Prof. Wang Tiezheng from Institute of Middle Eastern Studies, Northwest University lectured at the SFL Distinguished Lecture Series

On the afternoon of December 27, 2023, the 30th lecture of the distinguished guest series at the School of Foreign Languages, Northwest University was held in the Second Classroom of SFL on Chang'an Campus. Renowned Middle East studies expert Professor Wang Tiezheng gave a special lecture titled "Exploring the Skills and Successful Paths in Applying for Projects on Area Studies " to our faculty and students. The lecture was chaired by Professor Cao Ruonan.

The lecture mainly covered three aspects. Firstly, Professor Wang introduced the basic situation of the National Social Science Fund, emphasizing its significant importance for the current development of research work in China and the career development of university teachers. Secondly, Professor Wang elaborated on the skills in applying for projects in the field of area studies, the precautions in filling out application forms, and the principles of project argumentation. Professor Wang encouraged researchers to strengthen their focus on important countries, major events, and significant tasks, always keeping in mind the academic significance, practical relevance, and potential for disciplinary development of project topics. Finally, Professor Wang emphasized the key points of the pre-review stage of project application and reminded teachers to pay attention to the organization of arguments at the school level and fully absorb the opinions and suggestions of relevant experts.

After the lecture, Professor Wang earnestly responded to various questions raised by the faculty and students attending the event. Throughout the lecture, Professor Wang provided detailed explanations from multiple perspectives on the issues related to project applications in the field of area studies, which enriched the knowledge of the teachers in our school.
