On the afternoon of January 18, 2024, the School of Foreign Languages held a teacher research work meeting via Tencent Meeting. Dean Cao Ruonan, Vice Dean Su Rui, and teachers under the age of 45 with doctoral degrees or currently pursuing doctoral degrees attended the meeting.
Dean Cao Ruonan first conveyed the spirit of the university's research work meeting, encouraged teachers to pursue progress in research while dedicating themselves to teaching, making research a habit of life. She particularly emphasized seizing the five-year time frame for research advancement, exploring personal research paths and directions, identifying research growth points and increasing points, producing research results, achieving personal development that aligns organically with the development of the university. Secondly, Dean Cao Ruonan pointed out the school's future research planning for young teachers. Under the coordination of “organized research + free exploration”, sharing a benign development space, and achieving “focus + momentum”, the school aims to integrate forces, coordinate resources, focus and concentrate efforts in areas such as area studies and translation of Chinese academic works abroad, rationalize existing research, and strive for landmark achievements in projects and papers.
Vice Dean Su Rui expressed earnest expectations for the growth and development of young teachers, offered specific suggestions to enhance research capabilities during the winter vacation: Utilize the holiday to design personal research plans; participate in academic conferences to update knowledge structures, understand academic frontiers, contemplate research breakthroughs, and find entry points for paper writing; attend holiday training courses such as translation technology, digital humanities, and paper writing; participate in project application training, write project proposals, and participate in the argumentation of National Social Science Fund projects arranged by the school during the winter vacation; organize teaching materials and doctoral dissertations into manuscripts, apply for publishing funds at all levels; strengthen project process management and actively carry out project construction according to the project plan.
Finally, Dean Cao Ruonan encouraged young teachers to clarify their personal research directions, develop personal research plans, establish research goals for the next three to five years, implement research work, and contribute to personal growth and the development of the school.
